A day in Dahlonega

Saturday, we had a day full of plans. We started out with B1's softball game first thing at 9am. His team lost 12-4 but yesterday they won something like 14-6. After his game we headed up to Dahlonega for a visit with the FIL. We had lunch at the BEST BBQ stand in Georgia, called the Kitchen (Farmhouse Produce)!!! The pork is smoked all night long(OMG it's sooo good it'll make your mouth water just thinking about it), they also make there own sauce. The House is the hottest of them all and will set your BUTT on fire!!! But it is AWESOME. Plus we LOVE SUGAR and her Shack!!! (Next time I'll take some pics) Sugar is their Bulldog that has her own little Shack(apartment) right beside the restaurant.

Back at FIL's house we had a day of much need family time! Just spending time with the kiddos. We raced (Brianna beat me 6of 10x's), Kaleb created a bird perch on a tree, they hunted for squirrels and birds, Rick, FIL and I all shot our guns at the target in the woods (an old water heater), the kids played hide and seek, we went exploring in the woods around his property, before going in to watch a movie the kids fed the chickens. It was one of the best days this year spent as a family! I love having moment like this, because I know years from now the kids will remember!! I enjoy making wonderful memories with our kids!!!
Love ya, until next time

Fake tattoos

Hubbie and I are all about letting our kids be themselves and expressing them in creative ways. One just happens to be fake tattoos. The boys are always putting as many as they can on at one time, pretty much copying hubbie. B1 comes in the living room the other day, holding a rag to his cheek. Me, being a tad bit surprised because I didn't hear any crying or screaming, I jumped up an out my comfy spot freaking out. I asked him, "What happened?" He giggles, " Nothing Momma, look!" He moves his hand from his handsome little cheek and what do you know the boy has put a tattoo on his cheek! What can I say only in my house!! He asks, "You like them, Momma?" "Of course, I do that's a creative place you put them in!" ;-) Me trying not to crack up laughing!!! Next thing, I know he comes back in with the other cheek done, his chest and left his arm. Mind you, they are all some form of snake, skull or dragon. Wishing I would have taken his picture now! We ended up having to go to the store that evening and as we pull up, B1 goes "I don't wanna go in the store, I want to stay in the car!" I am looking at him like you never reject going to the store? So I ask him, " Why not?" "Because people will make fun of me, they'll judge me, Momma." People this is my 6yr old saying this to me!  I talk to him find out that he feels this way because he has tattoos on his face and don't want people to laugh or make funny faces. Now, I have taught my kids early on that we don't make fun of, laugh, smirk, and never stare at people who are different. We give our normal smile and keep it moving! If, they have questions they are to wait and ask when later. My kids are very good at this!!! I really want them to see the beauty from within! I simply explained to him that people are going to stare and probably judge him, but he should walk with his head up and be proud of his tattoos!!  Needless, to say the old man greeter, and two different women said they thought his tattoos were cool and he shouldn't hide them. Wow, didn't realize what a big deal fake tattoos could be! But, I believe through this he has learned that just because some may not like what he does, they don't have to live with it or him so who cares about their opinion. On another note, trying to get them off before school on Tuesday was a little rough, so I don't think he will be putting anymore on his face. We had to use alcohol pads  to get them off. lol BOYS!!

Wow, what a week! Last week went by pretty slow and hectic. It was just one thing after another. Last Sat. on our way back from the park (previous post) the check engine light came on in the Durango. Really? We have only had it 4wks! So, we stopped by Auto zone to have the code read. Of course, what is it, the transmission! Now, for those of you who don't know the last two vehicles we've had, have had transmission problems. Now I am crying!!! I just started to break down, blaming Rick for everything, of course. lol (He is such a good man for taking my crap!) Sparks Cars(car dealer we bought it from) is closed until Tuesday so we had to park it until then. Needless to say we took it Tuesday and finally got it back on Thursday not having to pay a dime bc it was under warranty. How about this, Friday, Rick gets in the car to go to the store and his car won't start now!!! This is after he just changed the oil and the brakes. It turns out to be the fuel filter which, thankfully in his car is easy! Meanwhile, all the car problems are going on I have decided to spend $12 and give the bathroom a "face lift."  We went and bought molding or better yet "casing" (tech terms) to put around the mirror. Wow, that made a huge difference!!! I love it!!!

I forgot to mention about this past Saturday, Rick and the boys had their first backyard camping night together! The boys did great!!! Rick helped them roast hotdogs, marshmellows, played the guitar for them, sat back with them and took in all the night sounds, they also star gazed a little( we have too many trees). The boys were out cold by 10pm! They woke up Sunday Morning just as proud as can be of them selves. Next they want to go Dove, and Deer hunting with daddy!! I wonder if they can be quiet enough?Well until next time love ya'll!!!
